COLUMBIA, Mo. - As senior Kearsten Peoples enters the final few weeks of her Tiger career, she brings with her her second SEC Women's Field Athlete of the Week honor, as released by the conference office on Tuesday (April 21).

The award comes after an exciting meet weekend for Peoples, who continued making headlines after claiming her fifth Mizzou School Record during Saturday's (April 18) Gateway Invitational in Edwardsville, Ill.  With a top toss of 64.42m (211-4), Peoples knocked off the 2009 hammer throw record, previously held by current assistant coach Krishna Lee.  She now owns record marks in each of the five events she has competed in during her career in the black and gold - the indoor shot put, weight throw, outdoor shot put, discus, and hammer.  An impressive accomplishment in of itself, the feat is made even more astounding considering the world-class quality of those record boards, which boast shot put marks worthy of top-ten spots in the current IAAF world rankings, not to mention the national-caliber performances currently found on the discus and hammer All-Time Top Ten lists.

Peoples holds the No. 9 spot in the current NCAA rankings for the event, and is No. 2 in the SEC, a mere four-inches off of the leader.  She also holds a top-five national ranking in the shot put, sitting at No. 4 in the NCAA (No. 3 in the SEC) with her season's best toss of 17.10m (56-1.25).

Peoples now heads into a two-meet series this week, starting on Wednesday (April 22) with the Emporia Mid-Week Open, then continuing on in San Diego, Calif., with the Triton Invitational on Friday (April 24) and Saturday (April 25).
