Women's Basketball Heads to Third Straight WNIT

March 16, 2015

Columbia, Mo. -Missouri Women's Basketball will continue its season this week as the Tigers have been selected to participate in the Women's National Invitational Tournament (WNIT), as announced by the tournament organizers late Monday night. Missouri, 17-13 overall, will travel to Northern Iowa for the first round of the tournament on Thursday, March 19, with the time to be announced.

This marks the seventh WNIT appearance for Missouri, and the third consecutive postseason appearance for the Tigers after hosting Eastern Illinois in the 2012-13 season and playing at Creighton last season. The last time Mizzou has qualified for three postseason tournaments in a row was from 2001-02 to 2003-04. This is the third postseason appearance at Mizzou for head Coach Robin Pingeton, and the 13th in her career. The Tigers are 3-6 all-time at the WNIT, and all three wins have come on the Tigers' home court.

This year's postseason WNIT field consists of 64 teams: 32 teams that earned an automatic berth, one to each established conference, and 32 teams chosen at-large. The tournament will be single-elimination with all games played at sites of host schools.
