Last Time vs. Georgia
Morgan Eye broke Mizzou's all-time record for three pointers made en route to a 66-56 victory over the No. 25 Georgia Bulldogs last season. With 9:07 on the clock in the first half, the sharpshooter buried her 227th trey ball as a Tiger, surpassing Alyssa Hollins to etch her name in school history. Eye's record-breaking three-pointer halted a 10-3 run by the Bulldogs, who led 24-14 twelve minutes in to the game. Mizzou last traveled to Athens in its inaugural Southeastern Conference season, falling to the Bulldogs, 77-46.
Scouting the Lady Bulldogs
The Lady Bulldogs are 13-2 on the season, winning their first 12 consecutive contests. After a win over Alabama, Georgia moved to No. 20/19 in the rankings. The Lady Bulldogs are led by junior Shacobia Barbee, who leads the team in scoring (12.4) and rebounding (6.9).
Quick Hits
• In 15 games this season the Tigers have allowed just two teams to shoot better than 40-percent in a game. In fact, the Tigers have limited opponents to less than 37-percent shooting in 12 of 15 games, winning 10 of those 12 contests. • The 53 points allowed by Mizzou against Mississippi State are the fewest that the Tigers have ever allowed in a regular season SEC game since joining the league and match the fewest ever in an SEC game allowed by the Tigers (Mizzou held Vanderbilt to 53 in the SEC Tournament in 2012-13).
• Mizzou has been getting it done with defense so far this season. In fact, in 10 of the Tigers' 15 games this season, they have held their opponents to 60 or fewer points. Of course, Mizzou has won all eight of those nine contests. Mizzou held its opponents to 60 or fewer points just 11 times last season. In fact, Mizzou has won 17 of its last 20 games when holding opponents to fewer than 60 points (dating back to the start of last season).
• A big reason why Mizzou's defense has been so stingy is the fact that they are limiting opponents to 33.7-percent shooting this season, the fourth-best mark in the SEC and the 13th in the nation.
• The Tigers have also made a living on limiting second-chance points this season. Mizzou limited MSU to just nine second-chance points on Sunday. It was the seventh time that Mizzou has limited its opponent to single digit second-chance points this season.
• Jordan Frericks sits at No. 44 in the nation for her rebounding numbers so far this season. Not only that, but the Tigers are outrebounding opponents by 8.2 rebounds per game, good for 33rd in the nation.
• The Tigers have gone hard on the glass this season, outrebounding opponents in 12 of 15 games so far this year. In fact, even in Mizzou's five losses, the Tigers are outrebounding opponents by more than four boards a game.
• Mizzou Arena is truly a difficult place for the Tiger opponents this season. Mizzou is outscoring opponents by 13 points on their home turf. The Tigers are holding opponents to just over 32-percent shooting and forcing more than 17 turnovers per game on Norm Stewart Court.
