Don Trentham Joins Mizzou Soccer Staff as Associate Head Coach

Jan. 16, 2015

COLUMBIA, Mo. - Mizzou soccer Head Coach Bryan Blitz has announced the addition of Don Trentham to the Tiger coaching staff as an associate head coach. The opportunity is a homecoming for Trentham, an O'Fallon, Mo., native who played collegiately at Columbia College.

"I am so excited to have Don join our staff at Mizzou," Blitz said. "He's a proven coach whose defensive record is second to none and is a tireless recruiter. In addition, he's a family man with strong values who our players, staff and fans will easily embrace. Don will help us continue to reach our goal of winning a national championship."

"First off I want to thank Bryan Blitz, Mike Alden and Tim Hickman for fulfilling a dream of mine to return to Columbia and be a part of the Tiger family," Trentham said. "Bryan has established a first-class program at Mizzou, and the support and commitment from the administration in ensuring success for the student-athletes in the classroom, on the field and in life is outstanding. I was very impressed with everyone I met during the interview process and was especially impressed with the passion of the student-athletes and their desire to win an SEC Championship, as well as advance deep into the NCAA tournament. I look forward to playing my part on staff in helping them achieve those goals and assisting Bryan in the many successes that lie ahead for Missouri soccer."

Trentham spent the last three seasons as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at Colorado, where he helped the program post a record of 36-22-7 and two straight NCAA Tournament berths during that span. Under his guidance, the Buffalo defense posted 29 shutouts and goals against average of 0.98 in his three seasons in Boulder. This past campaign, Trentham's defense recorded 12 shutouts and a 0.76 goals against average.

Before his time at Colorado, Trentham spent one season as an assistant at the University of Wyoming, helping the Cowgirls to a 12-5-4 record and the program's first ever spot in the Mountain West Conference Tournament Championship game.

Trentham enjoyed a nine year stint (2002-10) as the head coach at Montana State University Billings, turning around a program that never enjoyed a winning season into a nationally recognized NCAA Division II program. He finished his career at MSUB as the winningest coach in the program's history, with a record 85-75-10. In 2010 he was named the Great Northwest Athletic Conference Coach of the Year after guiding MSUB to its first-ever NCAA tournament bid.

He holds a USSF National Goalkeeping license, a NSCAA Advanced National Diploma and a USSF "A" license.

Trentham earned his bachelor's degree in education from Columbia College in 1999 and a master's degree in education in health and physical education from East Stroudsburg in 2007. He and his wife, the former Jennifer Lawler, have two children, Landon and Adelyn.
