COLUMBIA, Mo. - The Tigers are back with their second meet of the season as they defend their home track with the 29th Annual Missouri Invitational.  Field events will start the action in the Hearnes Fieldhouse at 2 pm CT on Friday, followed by the first event on the track at 3 pm.

Certainly highlighting the Mizzou lineup is sophomore LaQuisha Jackson, who opened up her Tiger career last weekend with a School Record performance in the 60-meter dash.  Jackson won the event at the Border Battle in Iowa City, Ia., with a final time of 7.44, good for No. 7 and No. 4 in the current NCAA and SEC rankings, respectively.  Joining her on the line is junior Chelsie Stevens, whose best time of 7.56 had held the top slot in the Mizzou record books since 2013.

There is also a bit of excitement surrounding the men's sprints, as freshman Kwadarrius Smith hits the blocks for the first time since his No. 8 All-Time performance in the 60-meter dash last weekend (6.86), and junior Kyle Smith opens his indoor season.  Smith currently sits at No. 2 All-Time for the 60-meter hurdles with his best time of 8.06 from 2014.  Joining him on the line will be junior multi-event specialist Ser Whitaker, who sits at No. 5 on the All-Time list with his PR of 8.28.

In the field, the trio of women pole vaulters will continue to chase Jennifer Bennett's 2003 school record bar of 4.15m (13-7.50).  Senior Katrine Haarklau, who holds the outdoor school record (4.35m / 14-3.25), will open her season on Friday, joined by junior Maggie Givens and sophomore Alyssa Applebee.  Givens and Applebee are tied for the No. 3 spot in the All-Time Top Ten list with their best mark of 3.97m (13-0.25).

Another All-Time Top Ten performer taking to the track is sophomore Tyler Schneider, who holds the No. 8 spot in the record books (8:13.73) and made the All-SEC Freshman team last year for the indoor 3000-meter run.  Schneider earned a First Team All-SEC honor in the fall at the cross country championships after finishing fifth in the conference.  He will open his indoor season with the 3000-meter run on Friday night.

The Missouri Invitational in the Hearnes Fieldhouse will begin at 2 pm with field events, followed by a 3 pm start on the track.  For the latest on your Tigers, stay tuned to MUTigers.com and follow the team on Twitter @MIZ_TrackField.
