Shauna Miller Named SEC Freshman of the Week

Jan. 13, 2015

COLUMBIA, Mo. - After opening her collegiate career with wins in the all-around, vault, bars and beam against Kent State and Towson, Mizzou gymnastics freshman Shauna Miller earned Southeastern Conference Freshman of the Week, the league announced on Tuesday (Jan. 13).

Miller's award marks the first time a Tiger gymnast earned SEC weekly honors since Missouri joined the conference in 2012-13.

A native of Knoxville, Tenn., Miller helped Missouri to wins over Kent State and Towson after claiming the all-around crown (39.325) after individual event victories on vault (9.950), bars (9.850) and beam (9.825). Her vault score of 9.950, which included a 10.0 from one judge, set Mizzou's freshman record and ties her for second nationally on the event. She also ranks eighth nationally in the all-around and tied for 24th on bars.

Missouri returns to action on Friday, Jan. 13 with a 7 p.m. ET meet at No. 7 Georgia in a meet that will be broadcast live on SEC Network +.
