BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Mizzou soccer senior forward Taylor Grant was named the Southeastern Conference Offensive Player of the Week, announced by the league office Monday. Grant scored both game-winning goals in Missouri's two wins last weekend to claim the award, the first such weekly honor of her career.
Against Montana on Sept. 12, Grant, who hails from The Colony, Texas, sealed Missouri's 4-3 comeback victory with the game-winner in the 105th minute of play. The Tigers trailed 3-1 late in the second half but fought back to send the game into overtime to set up Grant's dramatics. Two days later, Grant tallied Mizzou's second goal, the ultimate game-winner, in a 3-1 win over Cal State-Northridge.
The two goals were the fifth and sixth of the season for Grant, which set a new single-season best for the senior. Her three game-winners in 2014 lead the SEC, while her six goals rank tied for second.
In over three years in a Mizzou uniform, Grant has accumulated 36 points on 15 goals and six assists.
The Tigers open SEC action on Friday, Sept. 19 with a home match against LSU at 6:30 p.m. The contest will be broadcast live on SEC Network +.
