Columbia, Mo. - Mizzou Athletics hosted the 2014 ROARS Awards Ceremony on Monday, April 28 at the Missouri Theater. Hosted by Clear `99's Scotty and Cara, Mizzou student-athletes gathered for a red carpet event that celebrates the successes of the year on the playing field, in the classroom and throughout the community.
The 2013-14 year was one for the record books. In Mizzou's second year in the SEC, the football and volleyball teams got the momentum going in the fall season. Mizzou Football finished with a 12-win season and a Cotton Bowl trophy while Mizzou Volleyball brought home the school's first SEC Championship trophy. Mizzou Soccer powered through the year to earn three wins over top-25 ranked programs. The successes continued for the Tigers as both Mizzou Basketball programs advanced to postseason play and Mizzou Wrestling earned its third consecutive conference championship. Not only that, but Mizzou Wrestling also boasts a National Champion in freshman J'den Cox. Mizzou Gymnastics set 64 individual career-bests this season and Mizzou Tennis advanced in the SEC Tournament for the first time in program history. Mizzou Swimming & Diving has a successful season as well, boasting two first team All-Americans and a SEC Coach of the Year. Mizzou's softball and baseball teams are off to a great start this season while Mizzou Track & Field is ranked among the top in the nation this year. Mizzou men's and women's golf both earned top-10 finishes at the 2014 SEC Championships, both among some of the toughest competition in the nation.
