COLUMBIA, Mo. - Sophomore pitcher Griffin Goodrich (Kirkwood, Mo.) pitched a career-long seven innings as Mizzou (10-9) topped UW-Milwaukee (3-9) by a 7-5 final on Tuesday night (March 18) at Taylor Stadium. Goodrich fanned four batters and allowed three runs to the Panthers, none over his final three frames on the mound as he improved to 2-0 on the season.

Ryan Howard (St. Charles, Mo.) launched his first career homer in the midweek contest, a solo shot that sailed over the wall in left. Eric Anderson (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) extended his on-base streak to 12 games, and Shane Segovia (Sinton, Texas) pushed his hitting streak to six games. Mizzou continued owning the sixth inning, tallying two runs to push its season edge to 19-2.

The Panthers plated an unearned run in the top of first, taking advantage of a misplayed grounder by Jake Ivory (St. Charles, Mo.) for a 1-0 lead. Mizzou tied it up in the second with Howard launching the first homer of his career, a shot into the bullpen in left and then took the lead on Anderson's RBI double, and a RBI-single by Keeton stretched the lead to 3-1.

UW-Milwaukee knotted the game at three in the fourth inning, taking advantage of back-to-back hits to lead off the inning as both runners came in to score. Jack Klages (St. Louis, Mo.) helped keep the game tied by picking off a runner at third base with one out in the frame. The Tigers jumped back in front in the bottom of the fifth as a RBI-single from Josh Lester (Columbus, Ga.) scored Segovia to take a one-run edge. Mizzou threatened again the next inning as its first two batters reached, and both came around to score to give the Tigers a 6-3 lead through six innings.

Goodrich remained strong on the mound through the seventh, cruising to another scoreless frame. The Tigers extended their lead in the bottom of the inning, pushing Howard across on a wild pitch for a 7-3 edge into the game's final six outs. Austin Tribby (Springfield, Mo.) and Breckin Williams (Oronogo, Mo.) split time on the mound in the eighth, with two runs being charged to Tribby as UWM cut the deficit to 7-5. Williams stayed in to pitch the ninth inning, a scoreless frame.

Mizzou and UW-Milwaukee face off again Wednesday (March 19) at 6 p.m. Stay up to date with Mizzou baseball by following the team on Twitter (@MizzouBaseball) or checking in to MUTigers.com.
