Game Notes
- Mizzou now trails the all-time series with Alabama, 2-3, with Alabama winning the last three meetings, including a pair of wins since Mizzou moved to the SEC in 2012.
- The loss marks Mizzou's first loss away from home this season. The Tigers were previously 5-0 away from Faurot Field this season.
- The loss drops head coach Gary Pinkel to 112-66 in his time at Mizzou. He is Mizzou's all-time winningest coach.
- Senior safety Braylon Webb started his 42nd consecutive, the longest active streak among safeties in the SEC.
- Senior wideout Jimmie Hunt hauled in six grabs for a career-high 169 yards on Saturday. His previous career-high in receiving yards was 106 at Tennessee earlier this season. His 169 yards are the most by a Tiger this season and the most by any Tiger since 2009. He now has 19 catches for 421 yards in the last four games.
- Hunt's 169 yards are the most by a receiver in the SEC Championship Game since Auburn Darvin Adams had 217 in 2010 and they are the most by a Tiger since Danario Alexander had 233 yards against Kansas in 2009.
- Senior wideout Bud Sasser caught five balls on Saturday, moving his season total to 70 catches. That is the most by a Tiger wide receiver in a single season since TJ Moe had 92 in 2010.
- Kentrell Brothers tallied a career-high with 14 tackles on Saturday.
- Lucas Vincent tallied a career-high seven tackles on Saturday.
1st Quarter Notes
- Starters for Mizzou:
- Defense: Christian Brinser, Markus Golden, Matt Hoch, Harold Brantley, Shane Ray, Kentrell Brothers, Michael Scherer, Donovain Newsom, Kenya Dennis, Aarion Penton, Braylon Webb, Ian Simon
- Offense: Andrew Baggett, Mitch Morse, Brad McNulty, Evan Boehm, Connor McGovern, Taylor Chappell, Sean Culkin, Bud Sasser, Jimmie Hunt, Darius White, Marcus Murphy, Maty Mauk
- Shane Ray and Lucas Vincent combined for a third-down sack of Alabama's Blake Sims on the Tide's second possession of the game. It was Ray's fifth consecutive game with a TFL.
- Senior punter Christain Brinser tallied his third punt of 50 or more yards in the first quarter, tallying a 50-yarder following Mizzou's second drive.
- Sophomore linebacker Micahel Scherer forced a fumble in the first quarter and that put Mizzou second in the country with 18 forced fumbles this season. Alabama had only 15 fumbles all season before fumbling twice in the first quarter against Mizzou's defense.
2nd Quarter Notes
- Junior tailback Tyler Hunt returned a kick 26 yards in the second quarter, the longest of his career.
- Senior wideout Jimmie Hunt hauled in a Maty Mauk pass for 32 yards on Mizzou's first scoring drive. The senior now has a catch of 30 or more yards in three consecutive games, dating back to Mizzou's 29-21 win at Tennessee. Each of the catches of 30 yards or more led to points for Mizzou. He has a catch of 25 or more yards in four straight games as well.
- Matt Hoch tallied a big TFL on Alabama's ensuring drive following an Andrew Baggett field goal. He now has a TFL in two straight games and eight of his last nine contests.
- Mizzou limited Alabama to just 3.4 yards per rush in the first half.
3rd Quarter Notes
- Jimmie Hunt hauled in a pass of 63 yards on Mizzou's first drive of the third quarter. It was his second catch of more than 30 yards on the day and the second-longest of his career (73 at Tennessee).
- Senior Bud Sasser caught his 10th TD catch of the season and his first since at Tennessee earlier this season. His 10 receiving TDs rank third in the SEC behind Alabama's Amari Cooper and Texas A&M's Josh Reynolds.
- Sasser's TD came on a 4th-and-goal from the 1-yard line as Mizzou has now converted on 12-of-14 fourth-down tries this season. Sasser's
- Sophomore QB Maty Mauk's 1-yard TD to Sasser tied him with former Tiger legend Phil Bradley with 34 career TD passes.
- Mizzou posted 108 total yards in the first half but exploded for 140 yards in the third quarter. Hunt had 120 of the 140 yards in the third quarter.
4th Quarter Notes
- Lucas Vincent tallied his second TFL of the game, stopping TJ Yeldon for a loss of one. That matches a career-high.
