Seven Tigers to Compete at USA Diving Winter Nationals

COLUMBIA, Mo. - Seven members of the Mizzou diving team, as well as two signees, will compete at the 2014 USA Diving Winter National Championships this week in Columbus, Ohio. The five-day meet, which runs Dec. 16-21, will take place at the McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion on the Campus of The Ohio State University.
The Tigers will be represented by senior Loren Figueroa, juniors Lauren Reedy and Clark Thomas and freshmen Alexa Beckwith, Elliot Cecil, Hunter Fritter and Madeline McKernan. Additionally, incoming Tigers Payton Conrad and Kyle Goodwin will also dive at the meet.
The divers are invited based on previous marks and this competition is used to qualify for the 2015 World Championships, 2015 International Grand Prix meets, 2015 World University Games and 2016 Olympic Performance Squads.
Thomas, who took second on 1-meter at last year's Winter Nationals, will compete three events at the meet: 1-meter, 3-meter and synchro 3-meter. Cecil and Fritter will dive together in synchro 3-meter competition, while incoming Tiger Goodwin will also dive 3-meter synchro.
On the women's side, Reedy will dive three events this week: 1-meter, 3-meter and 3-meter synchro. Additionally, Figueroa will compete on 1-meter, McKernan and future Tiger Payton Conrad will partner up on the 3-meter synchro, while Beckwith will also dive 3-meter synchro.
Following Winter Nationals, the Tigers are back in action Jan. 2-4 at the Tennessee Diving Invite in Knoxville, Tenn.
