• Mizzou Men's Basketball (5-4) continues at home inside Mizzou Arena with Xavier on Saturday, Dec. 13, with a 3 p.m. tip-off slated for national broadcast on ESPN2.
• The Tigers enter the game coming off a 78-73 victory over Elon, in which head coach Kim Anderson's squad put up its highest scoring half of the season with 46 first-half points.
• Mizzou was led in the win with 16 points from both senior guard Keith Shamburger (3-of-6 FG, 1-of-3 3PT, 9-of-9 FT) and sophomore forward Johnathan Williams, III (3-of-10 FG, 1-of-3 3PT, 9-of-11 FT).
• Freshman forward D'Angelo Allen had a breakout performance off the bench with 12 points (5-of-7 FG, 2-of-2 FT) and seven rebounds in 21 minutes of action.
LAST TIME OUT...
• Mizzou Men's Basketball improved to 5-4 on the season with a 78-73 win over Elon (5-4), Thursday (Dec. 11). Mizzou racked up a season-best half of scoring with 46 first-half points on an efficient 59-percent field goal shooting effort.
• Nine of head coach Kim Anderson's Tigers scored in the opening frame of play. Thursday's game marked the fourth time nine players have scored in a game this season.
• Additionally, four Tigers scored in double figures for the first time this season. Johnathan Williams, III and Keith Shamburger each tallied 16 points, followed by D'Angelo Allen (12) and Montaque Gill-Caesar (10).
• Williams, III reached double figures in for the third game in a row and the seventh time this season. The sophomore has poured in a combined 50 points in the Tigers' last three contests.
• The Tigers were especially effective from the charity stripe, converting 24-of-30 free throws (80 percent). Shamburger was a big part of that, as he made 9-of-9 from the line.
A LOOK AT THE OPPONENT... XAVIER
• Xavier has gotten out to a 7-2 start for the 2014-15 season thanks to strong starts from a senior and a freshman. Experienced senior center Matt Stainbrook has helped power the Musketeers with averages of 14.2 points and 7.0 rebounds per game, while freshman guard Trevon Bluiett has led the team in overall scoring with his 14.7 points per game.
• As a team, the Musketeers shoot an efficient 52.6 percent from the field (278-of-529), which equates to 30.9 field goals per game. Stainbrook leads head coach Chris Mack's team in field goals with his 51 thus far (51-of-72, .708).
• Mack has coached XU to a 118-59 record in six seasons leading the program. Twice the Musketeers have advanced to the NCAA Sweet 16 round under Mack's watch. Xavier advanced to the fourth NCAA Tournament of Mack's tenure last season, finishing the year with a 21-13 overall record.
• Mizzou holds a 2-2 all-time record vs. Xavier, with the latest contest going to the Musketeers in 2008 at the Puerto Rico Tip-Off tournament. Mizzou narrowly fell by a score of 75-71 on Nov. 20, 2008 in San Juan.
