LAST TIME OUT...
• Three Tigers reached double figures in scoring in Mizzou's 82-63 setback at No. 22 Oklahoma (Dec. 5), head coach Kim Anderson's second game leading Mizzou against a ranked foe this season. A LOOK AT THE OPPONENT... ELON
• Mizzou faces Elon for the first time in program history on Thursday, Dec. 11, with the meeting between the Tigers and the Phoenix also serving as Mizzou's first all-time matchup against a school from the Colonial Athletic Association.
• Elon (5-3), led by head coach Matt Matheny, has averaged 78.5 points per game so far in the 2014-15 campaign, with junior guard Tanner Samson leading the way with his 13.8-point average. Samson has team highs in three-point makes (31) and attempts (68), accounting for more than 40 percent of Elon's total long range tries this season (68-of-169).
• Samson is also the Phoenix's second-best rebounder, averaging 5.3 per game. Elon's top rebounder is currently senior forward Ryan Winters, who pulls down 5.6 rebounds per game.
• Elon started the season with a 1-2 mark after an opening win over Florida Atlantic (64-58, Nov. 14), followed by losses vs. Charlotte (73-60, Nov. 16) and at Northwestern (68-67, OT, Nov. 22).
• The Phoenix have rebounded to win four of their next five games, including three-straight. Those victories include at Miami of Ohio (70-68, Nov. 30), Virginia Lynchburg (111-55, Dec. 2) and Central Pennsylvania (117-73, Dec. 7).
• Elon's two latest wins have been 100-point efforts at home inside Alumni Gym in Elon, N.C. Between the two wins, the Phoenix hoisted up 60 three-point attempts, making 41.7-percent of them (25-of-60). Most significant about the two wins could certainly be Elon's rebounding totals and margins. In the win over Virginia Lynchburg, Matheny's group outrebounded their opponent 67-31. Against Central Pennsylvania, the Phoenix put up a 56-36 rebounding margin.
