Last Time vs. Saint Louis
Mizzou opened the season at SLU in 2013-14, then a freshman, Kayla McDowell earned her first-career double-double as she tallied 19 points and 10 rebounds. The Tigers sailed to a 74-59 victory over the Billikens thanks to 34 points from Missouri's four newcomers last season.
Scouting SLU
Saint Louis is 4-3 on the season, coming off of a victory over UMSL on Saturday. The Billikens are led by the daughter of former MU big man, Steve Stipanovich. Sadie Stipanovich is averaging more than 11 points and four rebounds this season, one of three Billikens to average in the double-figures. She is joined by Jackie Kemph and Denisha Womack who average 10 points a game as well. Womack leads the team with her six rebounds a game also.
Quick Hits
• The Tigers are coming on strong this season. Mizzou is outscoring its opponents by more than 11 points in the first half of games as compared to 3.4 points in the second half. The Tigers don't let each other down, however, the team assists on 60-percent of it's second-half field goals and 55-percent of first-half buckets.
• Mizzou is leading a balanced scoring attack this season; five Tigers are averaging seven or more points through seven games, while two more are averaging more than five points per game. Every Mizzou player who has appeared on the floor this season has made at least six field goals.
• Mizzou Arena is truly a difficult place for the Tiger opponents this season. Mizzou is outscoring opponents by more than 26 points on their home turf. The Tigers are holding opponents to 29-percent shooting and forcing 18 turnovers per game on Norm Stewart Court.
Frericks on Fire...Again
Sophomore Jordan Frericks is off to a great start this season. She leads the Tigers in several categories including scoring (15.1 ppg), field goals made (5.7), rebounds per game (11.1), steals (2.4), blocks (0.9 per game) and minutes (26.7). Not only does she lead the Tigers with her three double-doubles on the season, but she has put up double figures in five of Mizzou's seven games so far.
Frericks' 15.1 points per game sit eighth in the SEC, and she leads the league in rebounding. Her 62.5-percent shooting puts her third in the conference, while her 4.7 offensiverebounds per game rank second. She leads the league in defensive rebounding with 6.4 per game as well.
Michaelis takes advantage of Charity
Sophomore Sierra Michaelis knows the importance of free throws. The Mercer, Mo., native has knocked down 10-of-13 attempts from the line this season, good for a team-leading 77-percent. She has improved from last season as she shot 71.9-percent from the line as a freshman.
