Following a Southeastern Conference victory over then-No. 22 Arkansas and a convincing win over Missouri State, the undefeated Mizzou's women's team just missed a College Swimming Coaches Association of America Top 25 ranking. The Tigers received votes in the weekly poll and are poised to crack the Top 25 heading into this weekend's meet.
Standout diver Lauren Reedy set a new school record last Friday in the 1-meter competition, totaling 352.43 points. Reedy has won five events through just three meets to start her junior campaign. She will face off with Kentucky senior Christa Cabot who has won both diving events for the Wildcats in back-to-back meets.
Junior Abby Duncan will also seek to build on her early season success. Duncan touched in at 2:12.92 in the 200 breast against Missouri State, claiming the seventh fastest time in the nation en route to her third event win of the year. That performance earned her an NCAA B qualifying time.
After surging past Missouri State last week to grab its first dual victory, the men's team will square off with its first Southeastern Conference opponent when the Tigers compete against Kentucky. The Tigers posted a 267.5-177.5 win over the Wildcats during the 2013-14 campaign.
Senior Eegan Groome and sophomore Michael Chadwick highlighted last week's triumph over Missouri State with two events wins each. Chadwick's 1:38.26 in the 200 free is the 16th fastest time in the NCAA in 2014-15.
Junior Matthew Margritier added his second win of the season in the 50 free. He remains tied for the 10th fastest time in the country with a 20.08.
Winning all four events he has competed in thus far, junior Clark Thomas puts his perfect mark on the line on Friday. Thomas is ranked third all-time at Mizzou in both the 1-meter and 3-meter dives. He racked up a personal best 423.30 points in the 3-meter last Friday against Missouri State.
