Columbia, Mo.-- Mizzou Golf alums, Emilio Cuartero and William Harrold, are set to compete in the final stage of the European Tour Qualifying School held at PGA Catalunya Resort Nov. 15-20, in Girona, Spain.
Cuartero, a 2014 All-American for the Tigers, has played well in the early stages of the European Tour Qualifying School. Cuartero took third in the first qualifying stage (Sept. 23-26) in Bogogno, Italy. With his second-stage tie for ninth at Las Colinas Golf & Country Club (Nov. 7-10) in Alicante, Spain, Cuartero qualified for the final stage.
Harrold, a 2011 graduate, competed in the European Tour Qualifying School in 2012 and 2013, but was unable to make the cut in the final stage. Because of his Q-school finish in 2013, Harrold earned the rights to play on the European Challenge Tour in 2014. During the 2014 Challenge Tour season, Harrold has recorded five top-25 finishes and one victory at the Belgian Challenge Open. He is currently ranked No. 45 in the Challenge Tour rankings, earning exemption into the final stage of the European Tour Qualifying School.
Cuartero and Harrold will compete in a field of 156 to try and earn exemption status on the European Tour. All players competing in the 108-hole final stage will earn membership on the 2015 Challenge Tour. After 72 holes, the field will be cut to 70 players. The top-25 finishers plus ties will earn playing rights for the 2015 Race to Dubai. The remainder of those who made the cut will be eligible for Category 20 membership on the European Tour.
