COLUMBIA, Mo. -After a three-match road trip, Mizzou volleyball will return to the Hearnes Center to take on Arkansas on Friday night at 6:30 p.m. The match will stream live on SEC Network-Plus with Ben Arnet and Alexis Mitchell on the call.
Mizzou's series with Arkansas dates back to 1995 with the Tigers holding a 5-3 advantage in the all-time series, including a 2-1 mark since Mizzou joined the SEC in 2012. The Tigers have won the last two meetings and five of the last six with the only loss in that span coming in Fayetteville in 2012. Mizzou has never lost Arkansas in four all-time matches in Columbia and Wayne Kreklow is 3-1 as a head coach against Arkansas. Wayne and Susan Kreklow are 5-1 all-time against Arkansas as well. Two of the wins came in NCAA Tournament action in 2004 and 2005.
Freshman Kasey Reuter has found herself in the starting lineup in the last four matches after not starting a match since Aug. 30. The move has paid off for Coach Kreklow as Reuter is averaging 2.00 kills per set on .259 hitting in that span. She is coming off of a career-best match at South Carolina Sunday as she reset career-highs in kills (11), points (13.5), digs (five) and attempts (28). Her 28 attempts were second on the team.
Mizzou's offense has been incredibly balanced in SEC play as Mizzou joins Florida as the only two teams in the league to have four players averaging at least 2.00 kills per set on better than .248 hitting. Carly Kan (3.19, .248), Emily Wilson (2.45, .271), Regan Peltier (2.23, .288) and Kasey Reuter (2.00, .259) are the four players for the Tigers while a fifth - Whitney Little (1.87, .363) is close to joining the group.
Sophomore Carly Kan went over 300 kills for the season last weekend as she now has 320 on the year. She is the first four-year Tiger to post 300 kills in each of her first two seasons since Julianna Klein did so in 2008. Kan had 383 in her freshman season when she was named SEC Freshman of the Year. This year, the All-American is on pace for 440 in her second year in black and gold. The last Tiger true sophomore to post more than 400 kills in a season was three-time AVCA All-American Lisa Henning who had 523 in 2011.
Recapping Arkansas
Mizzou volleyball fell to 13-11 and 4-5 in SEC play as it lost to South Carolina, 3-1 (25-18, 19-25, 23-25, 17-25), on Sunday afternoon (Oct. 26) at the South Carolina Volleyball Complex. Mizzou committed 13 service errors in the loss to negate a great hitting performance that saw the Tiger offense hit .370 in a losing effort. Sophomore Carly Kan led Mizzou with 16 kills on .424 hitting and was one of three Tigers in double-figures. The .370 hitting performance its Mizzou's best in a losing effort this season. In addition to Kan, Mizzou got stellar offensive performances from the outside hitting duo of Regan Peltier and Kasey Reuter as each posted 11 kills. Peltier posted her 11 on .400 hitting while Reuter's 11 kills are a new career-high as were her 28 attempts on Sunday. Senior Whitney Little tallied eight kills on .583 hitting with six blocks, both of which are her best since a win over Auburn, a stretch of five matches. Senior libero Sarah Meister tallied 14 digs in the loss. Loxley Keala led Mizzou with 27 assists.
