Missouri Head Coach Gary Pinkel
Opening Statement:
"First of all, I am really proud of our football team for bouncing back after a very difficult loss a week ago at a very difficult place to play. You are just proud of your players and your staff for how hard they work and the mental toughness that it takes to do that and the grit. There is a ot of things that we can gain from that as a football team and a football program. I have been doing this a long time and that third quarter, I wish it could happen every game like that. You get a fumble returned for a touchdown, an interception returned for a touchdown, a punt returned for a touchdown, and it was amazing. We are really proud of our team. We were talking Sunday about how we hadn't gotten any turnovers the last three games, and the record that we had set, or almost a record, prior to that. I always mention the defense because we always try to work on making it better. [Defensive coordinator Dave Steckel] walked them off and gave them this card. We used this before a few years ago when we were struggling a little bit as just a positive way of emphasis. It says takeaways equal victories. He gave one to me and all the defensive players. That had it in their pocket here and I carry mine around with me also. That's really special for Stec to do that. I should probably hand it out every week now if it's going to work that well. Again, a lot of good things, with those three turnovers and points in the third quarter and the lead that we had going into halftime, I got ultra-conservative with our offense. We just ran the ball and were very conservative. That came from me and at the time I think it was the right thing to do. I am looking forward to trying to improve there too. I thought the offense, when given the opportunities in the first half, really took advantage of it. It was a very good team victory.”

On Marcus Murphy:
"He was on my radio show last Monday and I was just thinking about him when he was up there talking. He has a huge impact on this football program. He is third, and maybe better now, in all-time yards here at Mizzou. [Jeremy] Maclin and Brad Smith are ahead of him. I didn't know that at the time. You look at the big plays he made and they are just huge momentum plays also. He'll tell you he got good blocking, but all you have to do is give him a lane and hold on because he has a chance to do it. It was just a remarkable performance from a great kid."

On the opening kickoff return for a touchdown:
"It's momentum. In my sport, it's everything. In every sport it is. Basketball it changes off and on, but certainly in football, turnovers are big plays. Kick [returns] are big plays. You would like to start like that every week if you can. There is no question that it was a great way to start the game, but there was a lot of great things to come.”

MU Player Quotes
Sophomore QB Maty Mauk
On the offense's overall performance:
“Well, I think we had a couple three-and-outs but we ran the ball really well. Yeah, we only had 20 yards passing, but the main thing for us is we came back from a 34-0 loss and came back and played really well.”

On whether the problems on offense have been sorted out:
“Yeah, I think so. I know we wanted to run the ball, we wanted to start with the run and that's what we did. Murph [Marcus Murphy] and Russ [Russell Hansbrough] had a tremendous game running the ball and we've got to get those guys set up and the guys did fine. They did a tremendous job blocking for them.”

Senior TB Marcus Murphy
On making an impact in a victory coming off a shutout:
“I mean, I just wanted to come out and make plays. We got the ball first and I knew we had to focus on starting fast and I just wanted to come out and get the momentum on our side. They opened up the lanes for me so I was able to make it to the end zone. I don't know what yard line I was on but I read Tyler Hunt's block. He kicked a guy out and everything just opened up so I just ran it in.”

On being the first player in Missouri history to return a punt and a kickoff for a touchdown in the same game:
“It was special. They had a good punt coverage team. We were actually in safe. We didn't have our punt return team on. I just caught the ball, I had a lot of open room, made a couple moves and the guys made the good blocks and I was able to get in the end zone. I looked back trying to see if I was clear but I got in.”

UF Coach Will Muschamp
Opening Statement:
“We've got to figure out what we can do to try and move the football. Six turnovers -- that's hard to overcome. A fumble recovery for a touchdown, an interception for a touchdown, start the game with a kickoff return for a touchdown, ball's not kicked where it's supposed to be kicked, guy's supposed to kick it deep left, he kicks right down the middle. At the end of the day, you're not going to win many games turning the ball over six times, giving them 14 points in special teams. Defensively, I thought our kids played well enough to win the game, bottom line. They didn't have to do much, and they figured that out pretty quickly after it got to be about 28-0 that they weren't going to have to do very much in the game. (I'm) Very disappointed in the performance. It falls on my shoulders, but looking around right now, we've got to get back and get our guys dialed back in. I know we all want to drop back and throw it, but there's a reason why we can't. You saw tonight. When we got in the drop-back game, we struggled tremendously to protect and to hold the edges.”

On what to tell the team:
“We meet tomorrow at 3 p.m., and I told them, any time you have one like this, you look in the mirror and figure out what you need to do to improve. That's what some of our guys need to do is look in the mirror. They need to play better in some situations, and that's what we're going to do.”

On switching out QB Jeff Driskel and QB Treon Harris:
“I thought he [Harris] did some nice things. We're a little limited in the throwing game as far as change in protections, and typical freshman quarterback things that when they show overload, you'd like to be able to change protection to the other side. There's some things that he hasn't been exposed to as much as far as the drop back passing game. That's why we came back in the second half and started the second half with Jeff. We felt like we were going to have to start throwing the football down the field more to create some plays, of course, they were playing tight, especially with their safeties. [We wanted to] try and get them off of us a little bit. Jeff's a little further along with those things, and I thought when he went in the game and did the things we asked him to do, he did a nice job. He's a good football player.”

On the loss:
“It's one of those losses where you just have to look in the mirror and ask yourself if you were mentally prepared to play this game, or if there was anything else you could have done to win this game. Did you spend your time watching film? Did you really come out here today thinking you could win this game?”

On what went wrong in pass protection:
“I think a little bit of it was not moving our feet enough. We had a couple guys come off late and just finishing on a pass drill. Not thinking that the ball is gone, but protecting until the whistle blows. They were getting pretty good jumps on the snap. We tried to throw them off a little, but it just wasn't working.”

On the game getting out of hand:
“It was 20-0 before the second half, and honestly, it could have been a lot worse. Our defense stepped up and made plays. [The offense] just put [the defense] in tough positions and we didn't get them on the field enough. We had a couple of turnovers where [Missouri] scored on the turnovers. That's on us as the offense for not taking care of the ball.”
