COLUMBIA, Mo. - Mizzou Softball added two more fall exhibition wins on Friday at University Field, defeating Central Methodist, 20-1, and Lincoln Trail Community College, 11-0. Head coach Ehren Earleywine's squad was led in the doubleheader sweep by junior IF/C Sami Fagan (Dunnellon, Fla.), who batted 4-for-9 (.444) over the two wins, as well as freshman IF/OF Morgan Walters (Buford, Ga.), who hit two home runs in a 3-for-4 game vs. Central Methodist.
In the Game One win, Mizzou saw two-hit games recorded by junior OF Taylor Gadbois (Maryville, Mo.), freshman 1B/3B/RF Amanda Sanchez (West Covina, Calif.), senior IF Corrin Genovese (East Amherst, N.Y.), sophomore 3B/2B Natalie Fleming (Silex, Mo.) and sophomore C Kirsten Mack (Riverside, Calif.).
Walters led the way with her five RBI in the victory, while Fleming came in behind her with four RBI, boosted by a second-inning home run of her own.
Sophomore P Tori Finucane (Germantown, Md.) pitched 5.0 innings of one-hit, one-run softball and struck out eight batters. Sophomore P Cheyenne Baxter (Norborne, Mo.) entered in relief for 1.0 inning of work, recording two strikeouts.
Game Two was dictated by strong offensive showings from Fagan and sophomore 1B/P Jordan Zolman (Arbryd, Mo.), who both recorded three hits. Two-hit games were posted by sophomore OF Anna Reed (Lonedell, Mo.), senior C Alyssa Cousins (Carrollton, Texas) and freshman IF Paige Bange (Jefferson City, Mo.).
Cousins provided the power jolt in the win over Lincoln Trail with a home run in the sixth inning.
Freshman P Paige Lowary (Dallas Center, Iowa) struck out 13 batters in 5.0 innings of work, allowing just one hit to the opposition. Baxter again saw relief time in the circle and struck out three batters.
Mizzou recorded 16 hits in both of the wins, including nine total extra-base knocks.
