COLUMBIA, Mo. - The Mizzou tennis team have released their full tentative 2014-15 schedule, as announced today by head coach Sasha Schmid and Mizzou Athletics. Spring 2015 action kicks off on Jan. 17 with a trip to University of Texas-Arlington.
The Tigers' first home match at the new Mizzou Tennis Center takes place on Wednesday, Jan. 28 against the University of Northern Iowa. Mizzou also takes on SIU Edwardsville later that evening for an early season doubleheader. Two days later on Jan. 30, the Tigers head to Wichita, Kan. for a pair of weekend matches against Wichita State and Creighton.
Mizzou opens up the month of February with two matches on the seventh against IUPUI and Missouri State University. Next up, the Tigers travel to Lincoln, Neb. on Feb. 14 for a contest with Colorado State University then face the University of Nebraska a day later on Feb. 15.
Coach Schmid and the Tigers get their final prep before Southeastern Conference play on Feb. 21 versus University of Houston and Feb. 22 against Texas A&M Corpus Christie. Both matches will be played in Houston, Texas.
SEC competition begins on March 1 with a trip to Fayetteville, Ark. against the University of Arkansas. Mizzou defeated the Razorbacks 4-0 in last year's opening round of the 2014 SEC Championships for the program's first conference tournament victory.
Following road trips to Mississippi State on March 6 and the University of Mississippi on March 8, Mizzou hosts the University of South Carolina on March 13 for their home 2015 conference opener. The University of Florida travels to mid-Missouri on March 15 for one of the premier Tigers home matches of the spring 2015 schedule. Florida ended last season ranked No. 5 according to the Intercollegiate Tennis Association.
After trips to Vanderbilt University on March 20 and University of Kentucky on March 22, the Tigers host a pair of talented SEC foes to close out the month. The University of Tennessee makes their way to the Mizzou Tennis Center on March 27 and then hosts 2014 SEC tournament champions Georgia Bulldogs on March 29. Georgia was the top finishing SEC team in the final 2013-14 ITA rankings, as they finished No. 4 in the country.
To close out a stretch of four consecutive home matches in Columbia, Mo., the Tigers welcome Texas A&M University on April 3 and LSU on April 5. Mizzou then makes their final regular season road trip of the 2015 season with a weekend trip to Auburn University on April 10 and the University of Alabama on April 12.
The Tigers look to build off their early round success in last year's SEC championships, as they head to Columbia, S.C. from April 15-19 for the 2015 SEC Tournament.
