Mizzou Golf Wins Turning Stone Intercollegiate

Mizzou Golf won its third consecutive and fourth overall Turning Stone Intercollegiate title Monday in Verona, N.Y., with a score of 6-over-par 870. The Tigers never lost their lead throughout the 11-team tournament and defeated second-place finisher Cleveland State by 10 strokes.

Individual champion, Ryan Zech, posted a 3-under-par 213 to win the event by three strokes. Zech was the only competitor to have an overall score under par and now has two individual victories during his collegiate career. The Kearney, Mo., native's first victory was at the C.O.G. Mizzou Intercollegiate during his freshman season.

Wilson Sundvold and Euan Walker also had impressive finishes, tying for fourth at 1-over-par 217. With his play, Sundvold established a new career-best finish. During the final round, Walker shot a 4-under-par 68, the lowest final-round score of all competitors, to advance in the standings and secure a top-five finish.

Freshman Luigi Botta tied for 17th after carding a 13-over-par 229, beginning his career as a Tiger with a top-20 finish. Will Echelmeier rounded out the starters for Missouri in 35th with a 20-over-par 236. Echelmeier, also making his debut with the Tiger traveling squad, improved his score each round of the tournament

Jacob Fair competed as an individual and concluded play tied for 38th at 23-over-par 239.

The Tigers return to action Sept. 19-21 at the Dick's Sporting Goods Challenge Cup in Kingston Springs, Tenn.
