Reedy Shines at USA Diving AT&T National Championships

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - Three Mizzou divers competed at the 2014 USA Diving AT&T Senior National Diving Championships in Knoxville, Tenn., last week. Junior Lauren Reedy shone at the meet, as she qualified for the 2016 U.S. Olympic Team Trials with a fourth-place finish on 3-meter.

After notching two first-place finishes two weeks ago at the Zone C preliminaries, Reedy picked up where she left off on the biggest stage of the summer. The Rochester Hills, Mich., native launched her busy slate of events by earning the top score of the 1-meter springboard prelims with a 285.15. She eventually placed seventh overall in the 1-meter finals.

Reedy followed that solid performance by securing another spot in finals of the 3-meter dive. She scored a 318.40, putting her at fourth overall and clinching her second top-ten finish at the National Championships. Through the fourth-place result, Reedy qualified for the 2016 U.S. Olympic Team Trials.

Additionally, Reedy paired up with Meghan Houston from the University of Texas to participate in the synchronized 3-meter event. The duo scored 225.90 points and finished 12th.

Also competing on synchronized 3-meter was incoming Tiger Alexa Beckwith. The Denver, Colo., native and diving partner Katie Russ just missed a spot in finals after taking seventh in prelims with 245.37 points.

Junior Clark Thomas also competed at the meet. His time in Knoxville began with a score of 314.95 in the 1-meter dive, which placed him 15th overall. The junior wound up highlighting his week by qualifying for the semifinal of the men's platform dive. Thomas finished 18th in that seminal with a 280.45 after placing third in the event at the Zone C Championships.
