COLUMBIA, Mo. - Fourteen individuals and the women's team were recognized for their work on and off the track this week by the USTFCCCA (U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association), who released the All-Academic Award recipients on Wednesday.
The women were one of 208 teams to earn a spot on the All-Academic list, making this the 50th consecutive year that they have received the team award. Their combined average 3.39 GPA was the third-highest in the Southeastern Conference (SEC), behind only Alabama and South Carolina.
Fourteen student-athletes were also recognized for their individual accomplishments in the classroom, as well as on the track, joining the ranks of 727 women and 496 men who received the USTFCCCA All-Academic Award.
The SEC led the nation with the most individual honorees for the women with 91 All-Academic individuals, while the men were the second to the Big Ten with 39.
To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Team, student-athletes must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.25, and meet one of the following athletic standards:
- For the indoor season, a student-athlete must have finished the regular season ranked in the national top 96 in an individual event or ranked in the national top 48 in a relay event
- For the outdoor season, a student-athlete must have participated in any round of the NCAA Division I Championships (including preliminary rounds).
