Jason Carreras Joins Mizzou Soccer Staff as Volunteer Assistant Coach

COLUMBIA, Mo. - Jason Carreras has joined the Mizzou soccer program as a volunteer assistant coach, Tiger Head Coach Bryan Blitz announced on Wednesday (July 16). Carreras spent the last year as head coach of the Shasta College (Calif.) women's soccer team.

"We're excited to welcome Jason to the Mizzou soccer family," Blitz said. "His vast knowledge and experience will be an asset to our program."

Familiar with Blitz and the Mizzou soccer program, Carreras worked the Missouri's summer camps from 1999-2002 and again in 2014.

"I am beyond elated to make the jump from junior college soccer to Division I, and I am even more excited to be part of such a prestigious institution and well-respected soccer family at the University of Missouri," Carreras said. "I look forward to combining my prior coaching experience with the abundance of new coaching knowledge that I will acquire at Mizzou in order to contribute to the success of this program. My goal is to learn and contribute as much as possible to the program, while at the same time impacting the lives of the players in a way that will benefit them on the pitch as well as off of it."

Prior to his appointment as head women's soccer coach at Shasta, Carreras spent two years at Red Bluff High School. In his first year at Red Bluff, Carreras led the junior varsity women's squad to an undefeated season. He was tapped to lead the varsity team the following year and helped them win the first league title in program history.

In addition to coaching soccer, Carreras also taught English at Red Bluff and Silver Valley High School from 2009-13.

Carreras played for Shasta, a two-year school, in 2000 and 2001, before he moved on to San Francisco State.

A graduate from San Francisco State, Carreras earned a bachelor's degree in liberal studies in from the school in 2004. He is currently pursuing his master's degree in education with an emphasis in educational leadership from Grand Canyon.

Carreras and his wife Kylie have one son, Braxton.
