Summer Spotlight: Alison Mosel

June 24, 2014

This summer we are excited to spotlight some of the folks who contribute to our program off the court. Each Tuesday this summer you will get to meet a special individual who makes a big difference to the Mizzou Women's Basketball Program!

WHAT ARE YOUR WOMEN'S BASKETBALL GAMEDAY RESPONSIBILITIES?

I have a lot of responsibilities on game day, but primarily my job is to take care of the overall medical needs of our student-athletes.  Before shoot around or games you will find me taping, heating, stretching, or consulting the team on their needs.  During the game, I am the one directly responsible for care given to the athlete if an injury occurs. I try to work quickly as possible to get them ready to go back on the court so Coach Pingeton can put them back into battle when she needs.  If the injury bad enough, I will consult or refer to our team physicians, Dr. Chris Farmer or Dr. Seth Sherman.  These two physicians aid me in any decisions to help with the overall health care of our team both with injuries and illnesses.

WHAT DO YOU ENJOY MOST ABOUT WORKING WITH MIZZOU WOMEN'S BASKETBALL?

I enjoy the family atmosphere that we have as a program.  I get to work with some of the finest people in the business doing things day in and day out the right way.  We are not just teaching basketball as our mission, we are preparing these young women to become successful in life.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE MIZZOU WOMEN'S BASKETBALL MEMORY?

I have had a few favorite memories made here so far with this program.  The first memory that comes to mind was watching the Tigers beat Tennessee at home in 2013.  My second was seeing Bri Kulas get drafted for the WNBA.  I have worked with a few other NCAA Division I women's basketball programs and had a few players make it on overseas teams, but this was a first for my career to see a WNBA draft pick from a team I work with.  And last but not least, my all-time favorite thing about Mizzou Women's Basketball is seeing where our team members end up after graduation in the next stage of their lives.

WHEN YOU'RE NOT SUPPORTING MIZZOU WOMEN'S BASKETBALL, HOW DO YOU SPEND YOUR FREE TIME?

Any free time I have to get out of town, I am usually up in South Dakota with my family spoiling my nieces and nephews or spending time with friends.  When I am in Columbia and have some down time, I usually hang out with the women's basketball staff, go golfing with my crew, cook for friends, talk on the phone, watch TV, or attend other Mizzou athletic events.

WHAT ARE YOU MOST LOOKING FORWARD TO NEXT SEASON?
I love traveling with this team, and I would be lying if I didn't tell you that Hawaii is the trip I am most excited for.  But, in all honest I am looking forward to watching this program grow again this year.  The time that the team members and staff put in on a daily basis throughout the year is unbelievable.   We are going to play some tough competition in the SEC, and I would be ecstatic for our Tiger Coaching Staff to lead us into to the NCAA tournament.  I believe we are on the brink of success
