Kreklow, Team USA Claim Silver Medal at Pan Am Cup

June 23, 2014

Mizzou saw record crowds at the Hearnes Center last season

MEXICO CITY - After sweeping through pool play, former Tiger All-American setter Molly Kreklow (Delano, Minn.) and Team USA lost the Gold Medal Match of the Pan American Games, 3-1 (18-25, 18-25, 25-18, 21-25) last Thursday (June 19) to finish as the runner-up with a 5-1 record. The 31 USA errors to the Dominican Republic's 20 seemed to be the difference maker in the match. USA held team advantages in kills (49-48) and aces (2-1), but in the end, Team USA fell short of its run to win three consecutive Pan American Cups. It would have been the first time in history that a team would have won three consecutive Pan Am titles.

Kreklow started and finished the third set, the only set that the Americans won, and started again in the fourth set. Kreklow led Team USA with 19 running sets and 43 still sets and 63 total attempts. She guided Team USA to .440 hitting in the set three win and .240 hitting in the fourth set.
