LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Mizzou Softball saw four Tigers selected to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association's All-Southeast Region teams for the second consecutive year on Thursday, with three representatives from head coach Ehren Earleywine's squad earning Second Team recognition.
Sophomore 2B/OF Emily Crane (Troy, Mo.), freshman P Tori Finucane (Germantown, Md.) and redshirt sophomore OF Taylor Gadbois (Maryville, Mo.) were selected to the All-Southeast Region Second Team. Junior 3B/C Angela Randazzo (Poway, Calif.) earned All-Southeast Region Third Team recognition. All four NFCA selections are career firsts for the Tigers.
Crane has battled through injury in her second Tiger season to post another exemplary campaign, smacking nine doubles to tie for second-best for Mizzou, along with four home runs. Crane lifted a two-run home run to left field to help the Tigers defeat No. 6 Alabama, 8-6, at University Field on May 1. She has also been clutch on the base paths, going 15-for-16 in steal attempts.
The Southeastern Conference Freshman of the Year, Finucane has looked impressive all season in the circle, pitching to a 21-6 record for the Tigers. Her overall ERA (1.73) and league games-only ERA (2.03) both rank second in the conference.
Gadbois' season has continued to be one of the most impressive stories in collegiate softball, as she has posted a team-best .422 batting average that ranks fourth in the SEC after a 2013 season that saw her hit only .103. She is the conference leader in stolen bases with 45 to her credit and ranks fourth nationally in stolen bases per game (0.82).
Randazzo has carried a reliable bat for the Tigers throughout the 2014 season, filling the stat columns with nine doubles, two triples and six home runs. She has also worked 26 walks, a total that is second-best on the squad.
Mizzou starts NCAA Regional action with Bradley on Friday, May 16, at 3 p.m. at University Field. Tickets for the Columbia Regional can be purchased through the Mizzou Ticket Office (1-800-CAT-PAWS) and online at MUTigers.com.
