COLUMBIA, Mo. - When the Mizzou Softball team took to the diamond at University Field this past week to open its home schedule, a recently placed patch could be found on the right sleeves of each Tiger's uniform. The "Ted" patch is in honor and remembrance of the late Ted Myers, grandfather of former Mizzou ace Chelsea Thomas.
"Ted was a huge MU softball fan and loved coming to the games," head coach Ehren Earleywine said. "Even after Chelsea graduated, he was planning on coming to as many as he could. We'll miss him dearly."
Myers could often be spotted in the stands cheering on the Tigers, becoming a fan as Thomas made her way through her All-America career in Columbia. The Tigers will proudly wear their "Ted" patches all season in tribute to one of the team's biggest fans.
