Postgame Quotes

Head Coach, Robin Pingeton

Opening Statement...

" I really appreciate everyone coming out tonight. It wasn't an easy win for us. We really had to grind it out, especially in the second half. We had a couple good runs, but nothing came easy to us tonight. I am so proud of our kids, the toughness, the resiliency that they continue to compete with night in and night out. I always think senior day is a tough day. Our players play with different emotions. As an outsider you think they will play with so much passion and fire. But when you have the relationships and the culture in our program, it can be a lot deeper than that. Some days things go for you really well and sometimes you just kind of struggle and sputter. It took us a while to get going but Morgan Eye had some huge shots for us in the second half. Bri Kulas had a great game for us. Lindsey Cunningham came up big. Jordan Frericks to struggle the way that she did throughout the course of the game, didn't get the minutes she normally gets, but came down and hit some huge free throws for us. Morgan Stock had the first charge of her career, as a college basketball player. That was a huge possession for us. Great team win and very proud of our players and proud of their resiliency. We'll take it no matter what it looks like. We just need to move on. We have one more big game on the road on Sunday."

On going deep on the bench...

"I think it can be a positive and a negative. When you play that many kids, it can make it hard for certain players to get into a rhythm. We did not have much of that tonight. We had some kids get into foul trouble because they weren't playing the way they normally play. I have a lot of confidence in my kids from number one to number 13. So when we go that deep, it is not a concern in regards to can they contribute. My concern is keeping my team in rhythm. Again I thought this was a great team win. I think everyone had an impact, one way or another.

On challenge of containing Ole Miss guards...

"It was hard for us. They have one of the best point guards in league (Valencia McFarland). She's explosive, crafty, and handles the ball great. She is a senior, last go around, she has a nice floater and she can shoot the three. She has great court vision, we had a hard time with her."

Mizzou Junior Morgan Eye

On Bri Kulas fouling out...
"As soon as she fouled out, Lindsey and I had the same thing in mind; we gathered everyone right away and we said `we're going to finish this game for Bri, we're going to finish it for our seniors.' We're just so happy we were able to get the win."

On reaching 1,000 career points...
"It's a really cool milestone, but at the end of the day, we really wanted the win and that's what really matters. We wanted to get the win for our seniors."

On what helped her shoot well from three...
"A sense of urgency [from my teammates] to screen for me, my teammates hit me when I was open, and when you get in a zone it just starts flowing. My teammates just did a great job of hitting me when I was open."

Junior Morgan Eye on the offense...
"We knew that if we moved the ball, we were going to get any look we wanted."

Senior Bri Kulas

On playing on senior night...
"Tonight was definitely an emotional night. I think I kept my composure pretty well, I didn't get too teary-eyed or anything. I just had the mindset that I was going to come out there and attack and play for my teammates."

On her teammates succeeding after she fouled out...
"I know that all my teammates have my back. I knew they were going to finish the game for me."

On reaching the 1,000 point plateau...
"(Morgan) said it all. it's a good accomplishment personally, but we still want more."
