COLUMBIA, Mo. - As announced earlier this week by the Missouri gymnastics coaching staff, the Tigers travel to St. Charles, Mo. tomorrow for a tri-meet with Lindenwood University and the Air Force Academy. The meet at Robert F. Hyland Arena begins at 2:00 p.m. CT and can be followed online at www.lindenwoodlions.com.
Lindenwood Tri-Meet Quick Facts
Last night at the Hearnes Center, the Missouri Tigers posted their best performance of the 2014 season. Behind the sixth highest bars total in program history, Missouri claimed a 195.725 to 193.700 meet victory over the visiting George Washington Colonials. Seven new career-highs were posted by Tigers gymnasts, as new season bests were set on bars, beam, floor, and overall team score.
The Tigers' 49.300 on bars, 48.800 on beam, 49.100 on floor, and 195.725 team total against the Colonials are all now season bests. Going into the meet with George Washington, the Tigers had failed to post an event score above 49.000 all season.
Lindenwood's last time out on Friday, Feb. 14 was a tri-meet with Missouri and Illinois State University. The host Lady Lions finished with a team total of 190.925 and placed second in the meet. Sophomore Courtney Heise starred for Lindenwood, after posting a score of 9.775 on bars.
The Air Force Academy Falcons have not competed since Saturday, Feb. 8. Air Force and the Auburn Tigers squared off in a dual meet, and the Falcons came away with a season high total of 193.025. The Academy's best event came on floor, as four gymnasts tallied scores of 9.800 or higher en route to a 49.000 event total.
Last Time Missouri And Lindenwood Met
(Feb. 14, 2014) As a late addition to the GymQuarters Invitational, the Tigers traveled to St. Charles, Mo. for a tri-meet with Lindenwood and Illinois State. Junior Rachel Updike claimed four event titles, as she moved her 2014 season total to 13 wins at the time. Junior Rebecca Johnson picked up her first career win after posting an event best 9.850 on bars.
Last Time Missouri and Air Force Academy Met
(Jan. 26, 2013) The Tigers posted a 193.000 team total, and finished third in a quad meet at Colorado Springs, Colo. Then sophomore Rachel Updike picked up her first two event titles of the 2013 campaign, after earning wins on bars and beam. Her scores of 9.825 and 9.850 respectively took home top honors amongst the day's competitors.
Missouri vs. Lindenwood History
In three all-time meetings, the Tigers hold a 3-0 (1.00) advantage. Every matchup has come during the regular season, with Missouri set to compete against the Lady Lions this Sunday for the third time this year.
Missouri vs. Air Force Academy History
Entering this Sunday's tri-meet in St. Charles, Mo., the Tigers and Falcons have met on four previous occasions. Missouri holds a 2-1 (.667) record in regular season matchups, and a perfect 1-0 (1.00) mark in postseason play. The two programs first met on Mar. 20, 2005 when they met in a tri-meet at Southeast Missouri State. Missouri would finish the meet in first place after posting a 195.750 team total.
