Tennis Heads East for a Pair of Matches This Weekend

COLUMBIA, Mo. - The Mizzou women's tennis team travels to North Carolina this weekend to take on a pair of opponents from the Atlantic Coast Conference. The Tigers open against North Carolina State at Noon ET on Saturday, Feb. 1, then face Wake Forest at Noon ET on Sunday, Feb. 2.

Missouri stands at 2-2 on the spring season, with 6-1 wins over Saint Louis and SIUE and 4-0 losses to Harvard and Louisville. The Tigers' top doubles duo of senior Cierra Gaytan-Leach and freshman Cassidy Spearman own a 3-1 mark, including a 7-5 win over Harvard's No. 34 team of Spencer Liang and Monica Lin.

North Carolina State is ranked No. 47 in the nation and owns a 2-0 record. The Wolfpack earned 7-0 sweeps over NC Central and East Carolina last weekend. Throughout their first two matches, the Wolfpack have not dropped a single set.

Wake Forest enters this weekend with a perfect 4-0 mark, including wins over College of Charleston (6-1), UNC Greensboro (7-2), Appalachian State (9-0) and Charlotte (7-0). All three Demon Deacons doubles teams are a perfect 4-0 on the year, while four different singles players own 4-0 records as well.

Following this weekend's matches, the Tigers are idle until a match at Wichita State on Feb. 16.
