MISSOURI CONTINUES WEEKEND WITH BRADLEY
Mizzou will welcome the Bradley Braves on Sunday in a 2 p.m. contest. Originally scheduled for 4 p.m. on Saturday, the game was rescheduled due to the many Tiger Athletic events happening throughout the day. The Tigers have an 8-2 advantage over the Braves in program history, and the two teams last met in 2009. The Tigers traveled to Peoria, Ill. and returned with a 52-46 victory.
UP NEXT
The Tigers take a week to focus on finals before hosting Belmont on Dec. 16. Missouri will follow that up with a trip to Springfield, Mo. to face Missouri State.
SCOUTING BRADLEY
The Braves are 2-5 on the season and will kick off a three-game road trip in Columbia. Coming off of a five-game losing streak, the team has seen several challenging opponents this weekend including No. 7 Kentucky in a 117-77 loss. Junior Michelle Young leads the Missouri Valley Conference with 18.6 points per game, and a total of three players on the Bradley roster are averaging double-figure scoring this season.
LAST TIME OUT
• Missouri topped the Oral Roberts Golden Eagles 86-64 in Mizzou Arena thanks to 17 three-pointers, good for the most in a game since the team hit a school-record 18 treys against Auburn.
• Both Morgan and Maddie Stock hit five three-pointers in the contest, and Morgan Eye matched that total as well.
• Missouri made seven of its eight attempts from the charity stripe in the contest, both Bri Kulas and Jordan Frericks were perfect from the line on the night.
QUICK HITS
• As the team, the Tigers aim for 80-percent free-throw shooting during practices and in games. So far this season the Tigers have done a great job of sticking to that goal as the team leads the SEC with a 79.7 free throw shooting percentage. Amongst individual leaders, senior Bri Kulas is shooting 89.1 percent from the line, good for fourth in the league.
• Mizzou is on its way to one of the best non-conference seasons to date. Missouri is 8-1 in the non-con and will look to top the 2011-12 season when the team finished 10-1. The 10-1 record is the best for a Mizzou team since 2006-07 when the Tigers finished non-conference play with a 12-1 record.
• This season the Tigers are averaging 5.4 blocks per game, a number that ranks tied for second in the SEC and 18th in the nation. The number is much improved from last season when the Tigers averaged 2.3 blocks per game. Freshman Jordan Frericks is dominating in this category, she leads the team with 19 blocks on the season, good for an average of 2.1 per game (third-best in the SEC).
• Two categories that Mizzou was very good in a year ago, it is dominating in again this season. The Tigers are among leaders in the SEC (second) in defensive rebounding at 30.2 per game and are also third in assist-to-turnover ratio at 1.1.
• It's no secret that Mizzou can burn its opponents from distance and so far this season, the Tigers have not disappointed. Mizzou leads the league averaging 9.8 three-point makes per game. The number is the fifth-best in the nation.
• Staying on the topic of 3-point field goals, Mizzou connected on 17-of-38 attempts (44.7-percent) of their shots from distance its last time out against Oral Roberts. Three different players finished with five makes from beyond the arc in the win. The 17 3-pointers are the most by any team in the SEC. Mizzou scored a season-high 86 points in that win.
• Looking deeper into the 3-point shooting numbers, Mizzou has connected on 13 shots from deep in four different games this season and own the SEC's top four 3-point shooting games (by makes) in the SEC this season.
• Mizzou continues to show quality depth off the bench this season as the team is averaging 26.1 points per game off the pine. Three different players average at least 6.0 points per game off the bench this season, led by 7.6 from sophomore Morgan Stock.
• The Tigers have shown a great ability to close games this season, averaging 39.0 points per game in the second half. Conversely, Mizzou is limiting its opponents to just 29.6 points per game in the second half. To prove the killer instinct, Mizzou is connecting on 84-percent of its shots from the charity stripe in the second half as well.
