Mizzou opens Southeastern Conference action on Friday, Sept. 20 with a road contest at Mississippi State in Starkville, Miss.

Last Time Out
Missouri traveled to College Station, Texas, to compete in the Texas A&M Soccer Invitational. The Tigers fell to No. 9 Baylor, 2-1, on Sept. 6 and suffered a 2-1 overtime defeat at the hands of San Diego on Sept. 8.

With Mizzou trailing Baylor 2-0, junior Kaysie Clark cut the Tigers' deficit in half with a goal in the 79th minute. Missouri continued to pressure the Bear defense but could not muster the equalizer.

Two days later against San Diego, Mizzou knotted the score at 1-1 in the 64th minute when sophomore Reagan Russell notched her third goal of the year. The Toreros scored the game-winner in the 10th minute of overtime to claim the win.

Tigers Spreading the Wealth
The Missouri offense has been a full team effort so far this season. Through six games in 2013, eight different Tigers have found the back of the net.

Additionally, the Tigers have four different players with at least two goals (Taylor Grant, Kaysie Clark, Reagan Russel and Lauren Selaiden) and three players with at least three goals (Grant, Clark and Russell).

Russell Finds the Back of the Net
Sophomore Reagan Russell was a big reason the Tigers posted a 5-1 win over Pacific on Aug. 23 - the Sugar Land, Texas, native tallied two goals in the game. Most importantly for Mizzou, Russell notched two goals in one game after going scoreless all of last season.

She added another goal in Mizzou's loss to San Diego on Sept. 8 to tie her for the team lead with three goals.

Grant Picking up the Offense
Junior Taylor Grant entered her junior season with 10 career points, eight as a freshman in 2011 and two last year as a sophomore. She hit a bit of a sophomore slump in 2012, as she could not manage to find the back of the net after a four-goal freshman campaign.

Just six games into her junior season, however, Grant has been one of Mizzou's most consistent offensive weapon. She currently leads the team in points (eight) and is tied for first in goals (three). She also has two assists. Her eight points matches her single-season best set in 2011.

The Freshman Join the Party
Three freshman notched their first collegiate points in Mizzou's games against SEMO and UMKC.

Midfielder Lauren Selaiden got things started with a pair of goals in Missouri's 4-0 win over SEMO on Aug. 30. The freshman tallied the team's second and fourth goals of the match.

Defender Erin Webb assisted on Missouri's third goal of the match for her first career point. She also notched a goal on Missouri's third and final goal against UMKC on Sept. 1.

Midfielder Melanie Donaldson notched Missouri's game-winning goal over UMKC in the second minute for her first career goal. She added the first assist of her career on Mizzou's final goal of the match.

Defense Holds Against SEMO and UMKC
The Mizzou defense posted its first and second shutouts of the season with a 4-0 blanking of SEMO on Aug. 30 and a 3-0 win over UMKC on Sept. 1.

Redshirt junior goalkeeper McKenzie Sauerwein got credit for both victories. She played all 90 minutes against UMKC to earn the 13th shutout of her career and split time in goal with freshman Kristen Rivers against SEMO to share the shutout.

Sauerwein now needs one more shutout to tie Megan Duncan (2000-03) for second on MU's career shutout list with 14.

Scouting Eastern Illinois
Eastern Illinois enters Walton Stadium with an 0-5 record on the season. The Panthers have suffered losses to Oakland (5-1), Northern Illinois (3-0), Northern Iowa (2-0), Green Bay (2-0) and Ball State (3-0).

Junior Madison Carter has tallied the team's only goal of the year.

Three Panther goalkeepers have seen action in 2013: sophomore Cortney Jerzy (2.00 GAA), redshirt freshman Kylie Morgan (4.00 GAA) and sophomore Emily Hinton (3.33 GAA).

Scouting Portland
Portland is ranked 17th in the nation by the NSCAA and owns wins over then-No. 14 Marquette (1-0), Oregon (2-1 OT) and Central Michigan (1-0). The Pilots tied then-No. 2 Stanford (1-1) and most recently fell to No. 7 Wake Forest (3-2).

Senior Ellen Parker paces the Pilots with give points on two goals and an assist. Five other players also have scored for Portland this year.

Senior Erin Dees has played every minute in net so far in 2013 and boasts a 0.95 goals against average and .750 save percentage.

Sauerwein Creeping up the Charts
In just two seasons, redshirt junior goalkeeper McKenzie Sauerwein already has her name scattered throughout the Mizzou record book.

The North Richland Hills, Texas, native ranks second all-time at Missouri in win-loss record (.612) and goals against average (1.18), third in wins (29), saves (224), shutouts (13) and games started in goal (43). Additionally, she ranks fourth in minutes in goal (4281:12) and games played in goal (49).

Sauerwin needs six more victories to tie Tasha Dittamore as Mizzou's all-time wins leader.
