COLUMBIA, Mo. - The Mizzou tennis team continues Southeastern Conference play this weekend with matches against No. 5 Florida and No. 23 Tennessee in St. Louis this weekend. The Tigers will face the Bulldogs on Friday, March 29 at 2 p.m. and the Lady Volunteers on Sunday, March 31 at 11 a.m. Weather permitting, both matches will be at the Dwight Davis Tennis Center.
If weather forces the matches indoors, they will be played at the Sunset Tennis Center in St. Louis. Friday's match would be moved to 5 p.m. if played indoors.
The Tigers enter the weekend ranked 58th in the nation with an 8-7 overall mark and a 1-6 record in SEC action. Junior Cierra Gaytan-Leach is the country's 105th-ranked singles player. She and sophomore Alex Clark, Mizzou's top doubles team, are a team best 4-1, including a 3-1 mark in conference play.
Georgia boasts a 13-2 record and a 6-1 mark in SEC action. The Bulldogs' lone conference loss came at the hands of then No. 4 Florida. The Bulldogs have three singles players ranked nationally: No. 8 Lauren Herring, No. 18 Maho Kowase and No. 86 Silvia Garcia. In doubles, Kate Fuller and Garcia are ranked fourth and Herring and Kowase are 59th.
Coming into the weekend, the Lady Volunteers are 8-6 overall and 5-2 in conference play. Tennessee's top singles player Brynn Boren is ranked 21st in the nation, while Kata Szekely clocks in at 38th. The duo is also ranked as the fourth in the country in doubles.
