Sandra Ostad Named to SEC Community Service Team

March 15, 2013

Columbia, Mo. - Senior Sandra Ostad has been recognized by the Southeastern Conference today as a member of the 2013 SEC Gymnastics Community Service Team. Ostad joins the seven other SEC gymnastics student-athletes on the team.

Ostad is very active in the Columbia, Mo. community. She is a two-time participant in The Walk to End Alzheimer's and has volunteered at the Race for the Cure. She organizes community service projects for the team as a whole, and is a board member of Mizzou's Student-Athlete Advisory Council. Ostad participates in `The Walking School Bus' where she walks children to school safely in the morning, and also participates in the local elementary school Read-a-Thon, helping local kids learn to enjoy reading and learning. Not only that, but she takes time to help out at the local food pantry where she prepares food for packaging to send to Mid-Missouri families in need.

The SEC sponsors Community Service Teams for all league sponsored sports. The Community Service team looks to highlight an athlete from each school who gives back to her community in superior service efforts.

Joining Ostad on the team is Kim Jacob (Alabama), Kayla Hartley (Kentucky), Kelci Lewis (Arkansas), Ericka Garcia (LSU), Megan Walker (Auburn), Jamie Shisler (Florida) and Noel Couch (Georgia).

The Tigers will face Arizona on Saturday, keep checking in to MUTigers.com for more information on Mizzou Gymnastics.
