Mizzou Advances Four to Saturday Night's A Finals

COLLEGE STATION, Texas - Four members of the Mizzou swimming team advanced to Saturday evening's A finals during preliminary action Saturday morning at the SEC Swimming and Diving Championships. Sophomore Igor Kozlovskij, senior Jowan Qupty and sophomore Sam Tierney will swim in the 200 breast, while sophomore Austin Fish qualified in the 200 back.

For the second straight day, Missouri advanced three Tigers to a breaststroke A final. Kozlovskij lead the way with a third-place finish in the 200 breast in 1:55.98, which was a personal best by 1.29 seconds. Qupty placed sixth in a career best 1:56.22, while Tierney clocked a 1:57.19, which was good for eighth.

Two other Tigers also advanced to swim to swim this evening in the 200 breast. Junior Mark Conroy will go in the B final and moved into fifth-place all-time at Mizzou with a 1:59.82 and freshman Michal Rokita advanced to the C final in 2:00.01, also a personal best.

Fish became Mizzou's first A final qualifier of the day with an eighth-place finish in the 200 back. The sophomore swam a career best 1:43.62 to better his place in second in the Tiger record books. Senior John Higgins will swim in tonight's B final as he also clocked a career best time of 1:45.16. Two Tigers advanced to the C final: senior Ryan Sellers and freshman Daniel Graviss. Sellers moved into fourth all-time at Mizzou with a 1:45.79, while Graviss had a personal best 1:46.55.

In the 100 free, sophomore Alex Glogoza and freshman Max Grodecki both earned spots in the C final. Glogoza clocked a personal best 44.34 to move him into seventh-place in Mizzou history, while Grodecki posted a time of 44.44. Additionally, senior John Krause had a time of 45.10 for a season best.

Mizzou concludes competition at the SEC Championships with day five prelims action at 10 a.m. and the finals session at 6 p.m.
