Katie Ely is in her first season as an assistant coach with the Mizzou program.
"I am so excited to be a part of the Mizzou soccer family," Ely said. "With the entrance into the SEC, this is a great time for the program. I look forward to being a part of their success in a new conference and on a national level. It's an honor and privilege to be here."
Ely comes to Mizzou from Duke, where she served as the goalkeeper coach for the past two seasons. In her two years in Durham, Ely helped the Blue Devils advance to the NCAA College Cup both years. The squad played in the national championship game in 2011 and the final four in 2012. In her two years with the program, Duke compiled a record of 37-10-3, including program records of 22 wins and just four losses in 2011. Under Ely's tutelage, the Blue Devil goalkeepers set single season records in shutouts (16), goals against average (0.48) in 2011. The keepers' save percentage of .857 in 2011 also ranks second on Duke's single-season list.
Before her time at Duke, Ely spent four seasons as an assistant coach at Syracuse. With the Orange, she coached goalkeepers who set the career saves and shutouts records and earned All-BIG EAST Rookie Team honors.
Ely, a 2007 graduate of Fairfield (Conn.) University, helped the Stags to the 2002 MAAC regular season title and the 2005 MAAC Tournament crown. She is still scattered throughout Fairfield's career records list, as she ranks first in saves average, fifth in saves and sixth in wins, shutouts and goals against average.
Ely holds a bachelor's degree in history from Fairfield and a master's degree in public administration from Syracuse. She holds a U.S.S.F. "B" coaching license and an NSCAA National Goalkeeper License.
