Mizzou's offense was clicking on all cylinders in Friday's season opener. Freshman Candace Johnson notched MU's first tally and senior Taiwo Adeshigbin and junior Alyssa Diggs each scored two goals within a nine minute span. On the other end, the Tiger defense held Memphis to two second half shots.

The five goals stand as the second-most Missouri has ever scored in a season opener, trailing just a 7-0 domination of Loyola in 1998. Additionally, it marked just the second time Memphis allowed at least five goals in a game over the last six seasons.

The Gauchos are coming off a 2-1 overtime loss at Kansas on Friday. Trailing 1-0, UCSB knotted the score at 1-1 in the 64th minute when sophomore Mirando Cornejo found the back of the net. Seven minutes into the overtime session, junior keeper Makenna Henry made a save on a Kansas shot but the rebound remained loose in the box and a Jayhawk pounced on it to score the game-winner.
