COLUMBIA, Mo. – The M&I Bank Border Showdown trophy will once again reside in Columbia, Mo., as the University of Missouri clinched its sixth straight title this past weekend as the Mizzou softball team swept a three-game series against Kansas. The title is also Missouri's eighth in the series' 10 years.
Although Missouri has clinched the series crown, the Tigers have a chance to earn one of its largest victories against its archrival in standings history. The largest win came in 2002-03 when the Tigers won by a 32-to-8.5 margin.
Missouri currently leads 21-4 in this year's standings with 14 points outstanding. The schools could have an additional 1.0 bonus points available in postseason competition in baseball and women's tennis.
