COLUMBIA, Mo. - A pair of Tiger track & field runners will head to the Alex Wilson Last Chance Meet at Notre Dame this weekend as they will look to improve their marks in order to qualify for the NCAA Indoor Championships, which will be held later this month. Competing for the Tigers this weekend will be Blake Irwin and Laura Roxberg.
Irwin, a former Big 12 Champion, will be one of 61 entries in the men's 800m run this weekend. Irwin currently ranks 20th nationally in the event with a season-best time of 1:48.69, set at the Texas A&M Invitational earlier this season. He will look to join teammate Ricky West, who claimed the Big 12 Indoor Championship in the event last weekend and has likely already booked his ticket to the NCAA Championships with the nation's seventh-best time at 1:47.81. The event will be contested at 1:05 p.m. on Saturday (March 3).
Roxberg, coming off of a Big 12 title in the women's mile - becoming the first Tiger to ever win a Big 12 title in that event - will look to improve her season-best time of 4:41.24, which ranks 33rd nationally. She will run as one of 37 entries in the event at 1:45 p.m.
