Columbia, Mo. - Missouri Women's Basketball will honor its three seniors tonight at Mizzou Arena. The Tigers take on Texas at 7 p.m. with a short ceremony to honor seniors Bailey Gee, BreAnna Brock and Christine Flores before tip-off.
LAST TIME OUT
The Missouri Tigers (12-15, 2-14) showed a flare for the dramatic on Saturday (Feb. 25) as they won their first home conference game of the year, a 61-56 overtime win against the Kansas State Wildcats (18-10, 9-7). Senior BreAnna Brock led the way for Mizzou with her seventh double-double of the season, finishing with 15 points and 10 rebounds. Christine Flores also had an impressive day with a game-high 20 points and 7 rebounds. Liene Priede's three with 2.6 seconds remaining in regulation tied the game at 53 and forced the game into overtime.
UP NEXT
The Tigers will travel to Oklahoma State on March 3 to close out the regular season. The Big 12 Championship will be held from March 7-10 in Kansas City, Mo.
SCOUTING THE LONGHORNS
Head Coach Gail Goestenkors hit the century mark in the Longhorns' last game against Oklahoma. Texas earned an 87-62 win over the Sooners, which also brings Goestenkors just four wins away from her 500th career victory. Texas is led by Chassidy Fussell, who averages 16.9 points per game. Ashleigh Fontenette is also averaging in the double figures with 11.8 points per game. Yvonne Anderson, the daughter of former Mizzou Men's Basketball Coach Mike Anderson, averages 11.4 points per game as well.
SERIES HISTORY WITH TEXAS
The Tigers are 2-21 against the Longhorns with their only victories coming in 2001 (68-52) and in 2011. The Tigers knocked off No. 22 Texas in overtime, 85-80, on Jan. 8 last season. It was the second victory over a ranked opponent last season. Earlier this season, the Tigers traveled to Austin, Texas to meet the Longhorns. Missouri dropped 75-58 to Texas, but Christine Flores tallied three rejections to tie the school record for career-blocks.
BIG 12 CONFERENCE HISTORY
Missouri is 256-313 in Big Eight/Big 12 series history. The Tigers have winning records over several conference foes including Iowa State and Oklahoma State.
