COLUMBIA, MO. - Missouri Women's Basketball will host No. 1 Baylor at Mizzou Arena on Wednesday at 7 p.m. The team will also recognize National Women in Sports Day during the game. Athletes from each of the Women's teams at Mizzou will be present for the contest.
LAST TIME OUT
The Missouri Tigers (10-9, 0-8) lost to the Oklahoma Sooners (13-6, 5-3) Saturday (Jan 28.) 62-59 in Mizzou Arena. Christine Flores registered five blocks in the contest, though the senior needed just one to lock up the top spot in Mizzou history for blocked shots. She also led the team with 24 points on offense.
UP NEXT
Weds., Feb. 1 marks National Women in Sports Day at Mizzou Arena. Athletes from each of Missouri's Women's sports team will be recognized at the game. Next, the Tigers will have a road game against Texas Tech on the 5th. Mizzou will also host Iowa State on Feb. 8.
SCOUTING BAYLOR
The Lady Bears are 21-0 on the season and ranked No. 1 in the nation. Baylor comes to Columbia off of an 89-58 victory over the Kansas Jayhawks. The Lady Bears have scored over 71 points in 20 of their games this season, only Iowa State held Baylor to just 57 points. Baylor is led by Brittney Griner, who leads the nation in blocked shots and rankes No. 3 on the NCAA Career Top 10 list. The Lady Bears have recorded 12
consecutive 20-win seasons under head coach Kim Mulkey.
SERIES HISTORY WITH BAYLOR
The Tigers are 5-15 against Baylor in program history, meeting for the first time in 1977. The Tigers last
met the Lady Bears on Jan. 3. Missouri dropped to Baylor 90-46. The last time Mizzou won against Baylor was at Mizzou Arena in 2010 with a 70-62 victory.
BIG 12 CONFERENCE HISTORY
Missouri is 254-307 in Big Eight/Big 12 series history. The Tigers have winning records over several conference foes including Iowa State, Oklahoma and Oklahoma State.
