To start off our trip we flew to Anaheim and met all the girls that were going to China. We trained for two days and then boarded the never ending flight to Beijing, China. After a thirteen hour flight, we sat on a bus for seven hours to get to Weifang. Once we got there we began to realize how important volleyball is in their culture and we were treated like celebrities. We played three games against different teams from China and went 1-2. The style of play was a lot quicker and the Chinese had a very disciplined style of play.
While in Weifang we got to experience sight seeing. We saw the Vegetable Garden and toured Weifang along with shopping. After placing fourth at the Weifang tournament we loaded the bus and headed back to Beijing.
Beijing was a little more exciting because it is a highly toured city. We saw an acrobatics show when we first arrived, and then visited the Great Wall, Forbidden City and Temple of Heaven.
The shopping in China was probably everyone's favorite thing to do, we went to the Pearl Market and Silk Market. Everything was so cheap but our only problem was getting all of our items that we bought back since we could only have one suitcase.
We played different Chinese teams but they still had the same level of play and discipline. My team went 1-2 and placed fourth again. Even though it was tough to play with girls that you have never played with, by the end we started to click and become more comfortable with each other. I made some friends that I will have forever and had an experience of a lifetime.
