
Missouri Conquered Denver Pioneers

Columbia, Mo. - The University of Missouri tennis team succeeded over the Denver Pioneers on Friday evening at the Green Tennis Center. Winning the doubles point, the Tigers defeated the Pioneers 7-0 and are now 5-1. All of the women competed highly and came out victorious.
To start off their successful night, No. 1 doubles partners Kaitlyn Ritchie and Mallory Weber beat opponents Sophia Bergner and Elena Najera 8-6. At No. 2 in doubles, freshman Marlen Hacke and partner Jamie Mera routed Emma Isberg and Caroline Schnell of Denver 8-2. Two wins in doubles gave Mizzou the doubles point in the dual.
The singles competition was just as victorious for the Tigers. Ritchie overcame Bergner (7-5, 6-4) while Weber triumphed over Najera 6-1, 6-0. Hacke (6-4, 6-4), Maria Christensen (6-2, 6-0) and Mera (6-2, 6-1) all finished off their singles opponents as well.
Missouri plans to practice on Saturday to begin preparation for another home match against the Iowa Hawkeyes. The match will take place at the Green Tennis Center beginning at 1 p.m. Fans should come early for free pizza and to support the team.
