Missouri Completes Day One at Royal Oaks

Dallas, Texas - The Missouri Men's Golf team completed the first and second rounds of the Royal Oaks Intercollegiate Monday. The team closed the day in 12th place. The Tigers went 289 and 296 on the first two rounds to finish 17 over par. Sophomore Emilio Cuartero leads the team as he finished four over on the day and hit five birdies in the first round.

After hitting two under in the first round, Cuartero (69-77) went on to add another birdie to his total in the second round. Cuartero finished six over for a final second round score of 146, which puts him in a tie for 45th. Teammate Brad Moody also shot a 146 on the day. Moody (73-73) recorded five birdies to finish two over par in both the first and second rounds.

Junior Jace Long sits one shot back from Cuartero and Moody in a tie for 50th. Long, (72-75) shot a total of 147 in the first two rounds, and snagged nine birdies on the outing. Six of the nine birdies came in the first round, with three on the front nine and three on the back.

Senior Nick Wilson is in a tie for 63rd in the tournament. He shot seven over par in the first round and added four birdies to finish even in the second round. Ryan Zech also contributed for Mizzou, the freshman recorded two birdies in each round to shoot a 152. Zech is in a tie for 71st in the tournament.

The Royal Oaks Intercollegiate is taking place at the Royal Oaks Golf Club in Dallas, Texas and is hosted by Baylor University. Big 12 opponent, Texas A&M, leads the tournament by seven strokes with a round two final score 17 under par. At ten under par, Duke University is in second place. The Tigers hold their 12th place position by five shots as SMU is in the 13th spot with a score 22 over par.
