Flores Checks In From Texas

Oct. 18, 2011

The past three days have been as smooth as can be but still very busy. On Saturday I flew out of the STL airport into Houston, TX! Being in Texas for me just brings back the being at home feeling and I am so happy I got that feeling before going to Mexico. From the airport I went to the hotel and got to meet my roommate Shante Evans. She is a great roommate and player in her junior year of Hofstra. We had somedown time but then went to practice where we met everyone. The first drills we did were drills like three man weave and 3 on 2 so that we could learn each others names quickly. All the girls on this team are really amazing. They are all very outgoing, friendly, and outstanding players.

We have had a total of 6 practices since Saturday night and we have come avery long way. It is not an easy thing to do to come onto a team of all girls that have never played with each other and it makes it even harder that every girl is really good but all the girls are very outgoing so the chemistry has become very strong, which is a huge accomplishment in itself. I am ready to get to Mexico and bring home the gold for the USA. Being in Houston has been great not only because of ball but I got to see my
parents and grandparents. They are amazing for coming to see me while I was there.

Being on this team has been an unreal experience for me. Representing the USA is a great honor and to do it by playing a sport that I love makes it that much better! The gear alone is amazing and we got so much of it! Although I am having a blast here I do miss my girls at mizzou and I know that they are working hard in practices though.

I will keep everyone posted while I'm in Guadalajara, Mexico.
