Tigers Succeed at Last Day in Minnesota

Minneapolis, MN. – The team finished up competition at the Minnesota Invitational today and continued to show their strengths in fall play. Missouri managed to end the day going 4-0 in singles and 1-1 in doubles. Maria Christensen placed third in the First Singles Flight after defeating her opponent 6-2, 6-0. Freshman Ashleigh Chiaf won the back draw in the Third Singles Flight when she overcame her opponent 6-2, 2-6, 1-0 (10-5). Senior Jamie Mera beat Aria Lambert of Minnesota 6-4, 4-6, 1-0 (10-8) and sophomore Rachel Stuhlmann finished off Kristin Kurer in two sets 6-1, 6-0. All the while, in doubles Alex Clark and Stuhlmann won their match 6-3 after an injury retire.

“Overall it was a solid first tournament for our team. [I am] looking forward to getting back to practice this week and continuing to improve,” added Head Coach Sasha Schmid.

The Tigers will travel to Waterloo, Iowa to participate in the Northern Iowa Invitational, which will take place Sept. 23-Sept. 25.
