Figueroa Represents US at World University Games

Aug. 26, 2011

Competing in the World University Games representing the United States, Mizzou diver Loren Figueroa placed sixth in the 1 meter springboard competition and participating in the 3 meter dive.

The World University Games is held every two years in a different city, and includes between 12-15 college sports, open to student athletes between 17-28 that qualify.

Qualifying in her first year of eligibility (Figgy was just a freshman at Mizzou last year, although her scores would suggest otherwise), Figueroa represented the US and Mizzou well. Posting a score of 277 in the 1 meter spring, she placed sixth overall in the finals.

Figueroa looks to improve on a record-setting freshman season, in which she was named Big 12 Women's Diver of the Year and placed second in the 1 meter dive at the NCAA championships, the highest finish ever for a Missouri diver.
