COLUMBIA, Mo. – Two Missouri softball players were selected to the Capital One Academic All-District 7 first team, as announced Thursday afternoon by the College of Sports Information Directors of American (CoSIDA). Junior Ashley Fleming and sophomore Jenna Marston were named to the district team for the first time in their career.
The last time Missouri had two All-District members was in 2007, when Leanne Bowers and Kathy Masterson were each placed on the team. The Tigers' two first team selections this year ties them for second-most amongst Big 12 schools.
Studying industrial engineering, Marston is hitting .333 with two home runs and 17 RBI during her sophomore season. She's third on the squad with 45 hits, has stolen eight bases in as many attempts, and is tied for fifth in the Big 12 with 32 walks – the fifth-most in a single season at MU.
Fleming leads Missouri in almost every major offensive category, as she's put together a .379 batting average with 15 doubles, 10 home runs, 48 runs batted in, a .465 on base percentage and a .735 slugging percentage. The convergence journalism major has moved into the top-10 this season for most career home runs at Missouri, as she's belted 23 home runs over the course of her three years.
