Redbirds Stay Alive with 3-1 Win

COLUMBIA, Mo. – Illinois State kept their NCAA postseason alive with a 3-1 victory over Indiana on Saturday evening, eliminating the Hoosiers in the process.  Megan Warner took a no hitter into the seventh inning while picking up her 15th win of the year.

Each team scored a run in the first inning to make it 1-1 after the first frame of action.  Indiana's leadoff hitter Breanna Saucedo took a walk, then stole second and moved up to third on a sacrifice bunt.  Sara Olson then hit a grounder to second, bring in Saucedo.  For Illinois State, Abby Olson belted her 15th home run of the season in the bottom half to even up the score.

The Redbirds tacked on two more in the bottom of the fifth following a leadoff bunt single and a base hit put a pair of runners on.  After a wild pitch, Abby Olson drove in two more with a double down the left field line, making it 3-1.

Illinois State moves on to face Missouri tonight at 8 p.m. CT in another elimination game. The winner will advance to face DePaul tomorrow at 1 p.m. CT.
